Karma Podcast 39 - Maneki Neko (house)

This mix is full of groovy ghetto house and blip minimal, a (dancing) part of material i’ve been digging and playing for the last 6 month. So it was really nice and exciting to record it, especially during the lockdown, because all the clubs here in Hanoi are being closed for quite long time. Maneki Neko is a young artist from Belarus. With her roots and beginnings sprung in the Minsk scene she’s the resident of сфера (sphera), a project focused on a multi faceted approach of curating diverse headliners in unusual locations, creating great events with a small but sound crew of Belarusian creatives which took over the local underground scene. It inflamed the passion to electronic music in her, and becoming a DJ was just a next step. With this steam, she has since left Belarus for Asia, where she’s been dropping her signature minimalistic sound from the islands of Phu Quoc, Vietnam to the cities in the north, and in China. After a short time based in Hanoi, she’s laid sets at the city’s finest clubs. @manekinekoo
