Canopy Sounds 22: Jaime Mayer

Deep within the mangroves, the lush water lay idle under a calm ocean sky. Drifting, slowly but surely into a sultry haze of zen and imagination... Born in Ecuador, country in the middle of the world, Jaime became a part of the Ecuadorian movement of producers and DJs in his early 20's, collaborating alongside top national artists like Andre Salmon (Hottraxx, Suara), George Levi (Resident DJ at Lost Beach Club) and Chris C. (Desert Hearts, Inwave). Jaime has garnered some well deserved attention over the recent years. His first EP "Recon” was released on Anima Somnis, one of the most prestigious labels from his hometown Ecuador, Guayaquil. His dedication to minimal and multi-textured grooves was noticed by Kindisch, who released his track entitled "Drana" (with Chris C.) on their Steps Compilation XIV alongside artists such as Kora, Vincent Cassanova, Modd, and more. Jaime’s music has been supported by top artists like YokoO, M.A.N.D.Y., Lost Desert, Matt Tolfrey and Primarie to name a few. Mayer has picked up new sounds and rhythms by moving from Ecuador to Puerto Rico, and recently Miami, culminating in a unique medley of minimal, house and techno. Jaime has played at clubs like TRADE (Miami), Do Not Sit on the Furniture (Miami), The Public Works (San Francisco), Monarch (San Francisco) and Club Epic (Puerto Rico).
